ERS is actively seeking an Big Data Developer to join our clients Global team who have responsibility for Big-Data systems and associated services across the organisation. You will be working with a team responsible for architecting, engineering, configuring, and deploying advanced big data platforms including technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, HUE, R, Solr, and many others.

 

You will:-

  • Manage and deploy Big Data technologies through automation
  • Conduct proofs of concept for new technology evaluation and adoption
  • Provide platform engineering subject matter expertise
  • Triage, diagnosis and remediation of platform related issues
  • Execute implementation of big data virtualization technologies and cloud native architectures
  • Facilitate use cases for Kubernetes workload through development of container (Docker) services
  • Develop sizing & capacity planning for large scale big data platforms
  • Periodically evaluate and optimize performance and platform throughput
  • Work with key supplier partners to influence technical direction and ensure the clients big data requirements are accommodated in their roadmap

 

Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years development experience with Python, Ruby, Go, Java, Scala, and related Linux based scripting tools, including the ability to interpret and contribute improvements to various open source projects.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated expertise in technology selection, architecture design, engineering & configuration, deployment and operational support/issue resolution.
  • Full stack technical expertise from OS and configuration management through to Big Data ecosystem components such as Spark, Kafka, Hive, Cassandra, R and Solr.
  • Experience with integration of Hadoop and other big data open source technologies with various commercial platforms including RDBMS solutions and off the shelf analytics tools.
  • Experience with software defined technologies (storage, networking) and cloud native infrastructure leveraging containerization on Kubernetes or Mesos
  • Demonstrated ability to work across multiple organizations, including both IT and business partners and suppliers, to ensure that their big data platform related needs are supported, forecasted, incorporated into technology roadmaps and ultimately implemented in a platform as a service model.
  • Excellent communications skills including both the ability to address detailed technical communications as well as the ability to distil complex technical status to executive level oral and written communications.

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a technical discipline with computational focus is required
